Memphis Super District 9 - Position 2
Alan Crone

A fifth generation Memphian, attorney Alan Crone became a member of the Memphis City Council in 2015. Alan is a voracious reader, a devoted husband and father.

That his personal role model is St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, speaks volumes about him. Seeking God both spiritually and rationally, St. Ignatius taught that because God can be found in our everyday work, all work is important.

His education and active political experience give Alan valuable insight into human behavior and strategic thinking that have proven valuable in both his professional life and in his public service roles.

Alan graduated from Memphis State University in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree, and then completed his Juris Doctor at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 1990. Former Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist appointed him as Chief Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Employment Security in 1995. He was also an assistant Shelby County attorney from 1996 to 2002. Alan also served as head of the Shelby County Republican party from 1999 to 2003.

In his legal career, Alan Crone serves as founding member of the law firm Crone & McEvoy, PLC. He focuses his practice on advising his clients on all aspects of their legal lives - both individual and business - including employment law, business and commercial litigation, estate planning, intellectual property, business formation and succession planning, business operation and compliance. While he is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and Arkansas, he has represented clients in courtrooms all over the United States. Alan enjoys seeking solutions for legal matters with complex factual issues and challenges.
