The City of Memphis Motor Vehicle Inspection Bureau (MVIB) is responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections and emissions tests on vehicles registered in Memphis. The MVIB is dedicated to ensuring that all Memphians are operating safe vehicles that meet environmental standards to help keep our City's air clean.

Memphis began safety inspection of vehicles in the 1930's and has the first fully automated and computerized automobile safety/emission testing system in the nation.
