Memphis & Shelby County Board of Adjustment

Selection Process:
(4) members appointed by the City Mayor, with the approval of a majority of the City Council, none of whom may be an elected official.
(4) members appointed by the County Mayor, with the approval of a majority of the County Commission, none of whom may be an elected official.

Membership:
8 Member Board.
Oath of Office required.
All members shall have been residents of the county (either within or without the City) for a period of at least one year prior to their appointment. Function & Authority:
The Memphis & Shelby County Board of Adjustment hears appeals from the administration of zoning laws adopted pursuant to the enabling legislation allowing the control of land uses.

Terms Of Members:
3 Year Term.

The term of all members shall extend until their successors are qualified.
