What to do if you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted:
First, get to a safe place, far away form the perpetrator.
Call 9-1-1 or our hotline at 901-272-2020.
If physically injured, report to the hospital immediately.
Don't bathe or change clothing.
Don't brush your teeth.
If you have to urinate, keep the urine in a container to give to a MSARC forensic nurse before an examination.
If you are assaulted orally, don't eat or drink until seen by a MSARC forensic nurse.
If you don't want to report, you can still receive services at the center from 8:30-5:00 Monday-Friday.
Reporting Sexual Assault Immediately:
Allows for the collection of forensic evidence crucial in the prosecution of the assailant.
Assures the victim immediate safety and medical services
Minimizes emotional and physical trauma.
Allows the police to pursue the assailant more effectively, increasing the likelihood of apprehension.

Mississippi Department of Child Services (DCS) child abuse hotline is 1-800-222-8000.
Arkansas Department of Child Services (DCS) child abuse hotline is 1-800-482-5964.
