Property Maintenance is comprised of 103 employees and provides a variety of services in the areas of maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction.
Property Maintenance proficiently maintains 500-plus publicly owned facilities and 400-plus structures that include Civil Defense sirens, Police and Fire drill towers, Tiger Lane, golf course irrigation, Mud Island Marina, Mall and Court Square fountains, the Zoo Carousel, and the radio tower. The department maintains 56 fire stations, 29 community centers, 17 libraries, 11 police precincts, 8 golf courses, the Memphis Botanic Garden, the Brooks Museum of Art, the Memphis Zoo, the Pink Palace Museum, Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, the Memphis Animal Shelter, homes in the historic district, and Mud Island River Park.
Property Maintenance’s licensed specialized crafts include: 13 carpenters, nine HVAC technicians, 10 electricians, six painters, 13 plumbers, three roofers, two heavy equipment operators, two crafts assistants, eight building maintenance mechanics, seven concrete finishers, two brick masons, and 10 administrative staff members.
