Increase to City of Memphis Motor Vehicle Registration Fees
For the first time since 1982, Motor Vehicle registration fees have increased for the City of Memphis. The increases will apply to Class A-H vehicles, which include motorcycles, passenger cars, private buses, low—and medium-speed vehicles, and off-highway vehicles. Memphis City Council approved the fee increase in 2024 to generate additional revenue that can be allocated toward critical infrastructure improvements, public safety, and other essential city services. The increase aligns the vehicle registration fees with other major cities in Tennessee.
