A Taste of Japan returns to Memphis Botanic Garden September 29 for the Memphis Japan Festival
Posted on 09/23/2019
Offerings from an assortment of food trucks and food vendors will provide plenty of tasty tidbits for Japanese food lovers at the 2019 Memphis Japan Festival on Sunday, September 29 at Memphis Botanic Garden.

Ramen, chicken teriyaki, shrimp hibachi and Pink Floyd sushi burrito are just a few of the Japanese delicacies that will be served by Firecracker Grille, Rice Burner, Sekisui & Robata and STIX. Soi Number 9 will add to the Asian flavor of the day with Thai Asian food. GRISANTI 9DOUGH1, New Wing Order and Wellness Wagon by Living Foods will be serving Japanese-inspired versions of their very own signature dishes prepared just for the Festival. Their dishes will include Japanese-inspired pizza, Tennessee teriyaki wings made with local Tennessee honey and stuffed Japanese sweet potatoes.

TapBox will be pouring Japanese beer, sake and wine; Wild Bill Soda will be dispensing seven flavors of cane sugar soda in collectible steel mugs; and Tea House “Edo” will deliver complimentary Japanese green tea, rice cakes and candy and a place to relax. And, what’s a festival without sweets treats? Parkers Concessions is sure to satisfy with ice cream, funnel cakes, corndogs, cotton candy and lemonade; and Mempops and Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice will cool things down with signature popsicle flavors and refreshing ices.

Special half-price admission to Memphis Botanic Garden will apply on Festival Day, compliments of Festival sponsors, Memphis Botanic Garden and co-hosts the Japan-America Society of Tennessee and the Consulate General of Japan in Nashville: $5 per adult and $2.50 for children 12 - 3 years old. Admission is free for Memphis Botanic Garden members and children under two years and includes access to the Memphis Japan Festival and Memphis Botanic Garden. Parking is free.

An Advisory Council and a working committee of active community volunteers provide essential support for this celebration. Primary funding is provided by civic-minded corporate sponsors and individual donors. Tax deductible donations may be made online or on-site at the festival.
