Interested in getting to know the police officers who serve your community? Memphis is celebrating National Night Out all across the city Tuesday night.

National Night OutThe free event is held in different areas of the country and is aimed at reducing violence. It’s held on the first Tuesday in August and serves as a way to bring the community together all in the name of positivity. Neighborhoods may hold block parties, festivals, or seminars, but the goal is always the same – keeping residents safe.  Almost 40 million people participated in National Night Out last year. This is its 35th year.

One such event is taking place from 6-8 p.m. at Court Square Park. It is sponsored by Downtown Neighborhood Association, Downtown Memphis Commission & Uptown Community Association. Live music, free food, and games for the whole family are all a part of the fun. For more information click here.
