Posted on 09/26/2018
The City of Memphis made strides in key areas in August, including decreasing answer time for 911 calls, decreasing violent crime, and increasing the number of applicants at Memphis Police Department.

In August, 96.4 percent of 911 calls were answered within 20 seconds, with an average answer time of 7.24 seconds -- a slight improvement over July.

Major violent crime is down 6.15 percent year-to-date.

MPD applications in August increased to 1,838 – nearly 800 more than in July. This helps Memphis Police Department move toward its goal of rebuilding its staffing.

Performance data is available in real time at data.memphistn.gov. These point-in-time reports come from the Office of Performance Management’s monthly report to Mayor Jim Strickland, which can be viewed here.
