In celebration of Memphis’ 200th birthday this May, the Memphis Botanic Garden has created a “Bicentennial Blues Memphis Botanic Garden Bicentennial Blues BedBed.” The new planting opened this week and is located just outside of the Four Seasons Garden. The bed features blue hued plants including Blue Hydrangeas, Blue Point Junipers, Dianthus, African Plumbago, Blue Hawaii Ageratum and more.

“The Mississippi River is the heart of Memphis”, Memphis Botanic Garden Director of Horticulture, Rick Pudwell said. “For that reason, we made the river the centerpiece of a new bed of plantings honoring our city and its 200th birthday.”

“As a City of Memphis owned property, we are proud to lend our support and expertise to the celebration of this 200 year milestone," Memphis Botanic Garden Executive Director Mike Allen said.

The Memphis Botanic Garden hosts 225,000 visitors every year and is open daily.
