Service changes, closures for Independence Day

City of Memphis offices will be closed and solid waste pickup will not run on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Residents who have garbage and recycling collections by City crews or its contractor on Wednesdays should place their cart curbside Thursday, July 5. Wednesday through Friday customers will have their collections delayed by one day that week. Friday customers will be serviced Saturday.

What’s closed and what’s open on July 4?

Closed:

  • Libraries
  • Indoor pools at senior centers and community centers
  • Mallory-Neely House
  • Magevney House
  • Brooks Museum
  • Metal Museum
Open:
  • Mud Island River Park
  • Pink Palace Museum
  • Lichterman Nature Center
  • Golf courses
  • Tennis centers
  • Outdoor pools
  • Memphis Botanic Garden
  • Memphis Zoo

MATA will run its Sunday service route on July 4. MLGW offices will be closed for the day, but if you need to report an outage, call 544-6500

Holiday closures will not affect the Memphis Police Department and Memphis Fire Department.
