Adopt a Lot

Adopt A Lot

The purpose of the Adop-a-Lot program is to temporarily activate vacant land in inventory by engaging community. The Adopt-A-Lot program allows community-based organizations to temporarily revitalize MMLBA-owned vacant lots with a short-term lease ($25 annually). Non-profits, neighborhood associations, churches, and other faith-based organizations who live, work, or have ties in a neighborhood with MMLBA inventory vacant lots can temporarily activate a vacant lot for the beautification and stabilization needs of the community. Adopting an MMLBA-owned vacant lot can improve living conditions in your neighborhood and create a peaceful and enjoyable space for everyone to share. The approved organization will be required to maintain the property during the lease period.

Here are some examples of temporary activation.

  • Community Garden
  • Urban Forestry/Native Gardening
  • Clean and Green Recreational Spaces
