Fleet Management

The Office of Fleet Management employs 84 highly-skilled employees and is responsible for the cost-effective procurement of the City of Memphis’ vehicle fleet and for the repair and preventative maintenance of the City’s light and heavy vehicles and equipment.  Fleet Management has 14 shops centrally located throughout the City of Memphis. 

Light vehicles include marked squad cars, administrative sedans, vans, pickup trucks, and motorcycles. Heavy equipment includes sanitation rear-load and automated trucks, tractor trailers, dump trucks, enclosed box trucks, state bed trucks, boom picker trucks, and park equipment. Fleet Management also provides specialized service in the areas of fleet fueling, welding, auto-body, and hydraulic repair. 

In a typical year, the Office of Fleet Management performs an estimated 80,000 repairs on City vehicles and equipment and procures approximately 200 vehicles.
