Property Maintenance

Property Maintenance is comprised of 102 full-time employees and 19 temporary employees.  General Services provides a variety of services in the fields of maintenance, repair, alteration, construction, and grounds maintenance. 

Property Maintenance proficiently maintains 500+ publicly-owned facilities and 400+ structures that include Civil Defense sirens, Police and Fire drill towers, Tiger Lane, golf courses, Mud Island Marina, Mall and Court Square fountains, the Zoo Carousel, and the radio tower. The department maintains 56 fire stations, 29 community centers, 17 libraries, 11 police precincts, 8 golf courses, the Memphis Botanic Garden, the Brooks Museum of Art, the Memphis Zoo, the Pink Palace Museum, Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, Memphis Animal Services, homes in the historic district, and Mud Island River Park. 

Grounds Maintenance skillfully maintains 52 publicly-owned facilities and 153 vacant lots that are City of Memphis-owned properties. These properties include Police Precincts, Libraries, City Hall, Public Safety Building, Police Training Center, Memphis Animal Services, 911 Call Center, O.C.U., Mounted Police Center, Impound Lot, General Services facilities, and various City of Memphis-owned buildings. Services include grass cutting, trash pick-up, edging, weed control, tree pruning, snow removal, storm clean-up, asphalt repair, erosion control, and other landscaping necessities as requested.
