Division of Housing and Community Development Announces 5th Annual State of Memphis Housing Preservation Summit:
The Division of Housing and Community Development (HCD) will host its 5th Annual State of Memphis Housing Preservation Summit on Friday, February 21st, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Memphis Botanic Garden. This transformative two-day event will focus on shaping the future of housing through preservation, development, and equity, bringing together national experts, advocates, and local leaders to address pressing housing issues from fair financing to policy advocacy.
A key feature of the summit will be the Mayors’ Roundtable, hosted by Memphis Mayor Paul A. Young, which will bring together regional leaders to discuss innovation and common issues in housing policy. This roundtable will allow attendees to hear directly from policymakers and thought leaders about the future of Memphis’ housing landscape and the strategies being implemented to tackle ongoing challenges.
In addition to the main summit, participants can join the Neighborhoods Tour on February 20th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., where they will explore neighborhoods such as Klondike/Smokey City, Orange Mound, Alcy Ball, and South City. The tour offers a firsthand look at the dynamic communities shaping Memphis and the transformative initiatives underway in these areas. The summit will feature a series of sessions that tackle a wide range of housing-related topics. Attendees can expect discussions on housing finance, the impact of investors on communities of color, the emerging national movement for housing preservation, and the role of state policy advocacy. These sessions will offer valuable insights and strategies aimed at creating more equitable, sustainable housing opportunities in Memphis and beyond. Registration Fee: $30.
